By habit I never start a canvas that's smaller than 4000 pixels tall. (If I'm not dolling ofc) The large canvas allows me to be less fiddy with my marks because I'm not drawing details at the pixel level etc.
I have been doing this so long it's become just a fact to me. But today I was looking about at some stuff and people were talking about how they start their canvas "quite large" at 1000 px high. And I'm like O_O "you can't do anything with ease at 1000 pixels, you're making your job harder, whut people do this?!"
I guess I'm just being all oblivious again and something completely normal is baffling my tiny artist bubble.
What kind of canvas size do you work on? (If it's not pixel art... )
I can't be alone in the giant canvas can I?

Things you wish...
...that your younger art self knew. Is there anything you've learned as you grew older, that seems really obvious now, that you wish that you had learned way earlier? Or are there any things your younger art self stubbornly thought was correct and you've later learned was different? For me it's having learned to "really look" at things. I use other people's art all the time to solve issues I'm having. Not by copying them of course! But by looking at the work of people better than me and reaaaallly learning from it beyond style and anatomy. Also references. Drawing from memory does not win you art points.
Still Here!
Hey! It's been a while! I had a bit of a shitty mental health year last year (I'm ok) and one of my self care items was to abruptly stop using some of my social media due to just having too many things to look after. However I've sorted myself out, hopefully got my brain back on as straight as it ever was, and I decided to log back in for the first time in... goodness knows how long! Everything looks different, I'm so lost, it was still desaturated green last time I was here! I hope to upload some of my latest work soon, if you haven't been following me on other socials that might mean lots of new work for you to check out. If you're still around, thanks for sticking with me!
Do you like moths? And Pins? of course you do.
One day left for guarenteed preorder of my moth pin, once I place the order I will have a finite number of pins in my stocks.
It's likely to be a limited run and not restocked so do place an order if you want one!

Hello Again
Hey guys!! Long time no see!!
I'm not as active on deviantART as I used to be, though I'm trying to remember to log in and post some stuff.
I had a couple of bad experiences posting some work and people choosing to attack me over it's content, and while that's not the majority of people who talk to me it did cause me to take a step or two back from here to regroup myself.
If you want to keep up with my work you can also find me at the following places, where i often post a lot of sketches and other fun stuff too.

Thanks for putting this into words. Pixel art is often mega tough because every "stay mark" is an eyesore, I didn't consider that using a giant canvas is less punishing since it gets scaled down later.
