Why can't death be fabulous!

Finally put the finishing tweaks on a personal piece I've been working on intermittently for months. The original idea was a T shirt Design but I might have gone just a tad too intricate. I love it anyway. .

I really love the use of color in this image, it's subtle and thus very powerful. The hints and highlights of lime really make the image pop. The brightness of the nails is a great touch.

I love the natural contrast that we get with the skull make-up reminiscent of voodoo culture, the white against the ebony skin stands out brilliantly and it is contrasted by the cross around the neck imbuing of thought of traditionalism and modernism.

The subtle red in the shading of the skin adds a great deal of life to the image.

My only major criticism is the lack of detail of the scythe, in comparison to the beautiful paint job of her clothing, skin and hair, the rendering of the weapon looks lacking. Particularly the end of the handle where the brush strokes are very evident despite the immaculate smoothness of the rest of the painting. But this is all very small in comparison to the quality of the rest of the image.

And one final compliment: the hair. The shading and strands are gorgeous, making the volume seem real and with the darkness it would be easy to fall into a trap of a lumpy black mass on her head, but instead it's this writhing mane, just fabulous.

Wonderful job!
