I love illustrating from  books without any movies or real properly defined visual style, and I always mean to do more with the Garth Nix novels (which I love). And so a while back I started a little project making costume/character designs.

They've got a fashion twist into the fantasy because there's no official look to the characters so I can do whatever I like so long as it adheers to the description in the book. I was heavily inspired by runway couture fashions from the autumn winter 2013 styling for this. And a little Wednesday Adams because Sabriel is about Death after all.

I love all the designs you've done so far, especially Lirael's dress and waistcoat. I have to admit, it warms my heart to see you remembered Sabriel has a bob! so many people forget that, even though it's one of the first things we learn about Sabriel. The collar and chain here is a lovely touch while not taking away from the overall proper and restrained look of the uniform.
