This is my entry to the Miss Doll Europe competition.
I wanted to create a character that defied the stereotype of a country, and while I could have done another country, I chose to do UK as I know it best and so can best create someone I can truly believe exists there.
The character is an amalgamation of many of the young British Indian women I see wandering around uni, so she is truly grounded in reality.
I am most proud of her wool hat, it's a style that's very in, in the UK atm and was very very difficult to make look right.
It seems like the MDE site is down, I shall have to try for tomorrow to get it to them because my net is broken at home atm ¬¬
I found when looking at the shape of indian noses they had some fun beautiful shapes, as do caucasians of course but people tend to avoid drawing non 'pretty perfect' noses. No wonder so many people want nose jobs.
i really love this. the composition between the full doll and the portrait is smooth, but i feel like the placement of the text is really off. i don't even notice it. my eyes just stay on the dolls, which is important to a point, but since my eye doesn't travel to the text i feel like that's a problem to some degree.
I had composed the text (imo perfectly) and then I reread the rules when I had access to internet and was like FFFFFF cos my image was too wide. So I had to shrink the text, so I agree, it's lost something.
For the contests it's hard to make the text work, without being too garish and doing too much flowery text, and having it overpower the doll, so I'd rather the doll stood out more than the text, if there is an imbalance XD
