Mary Cassatt for MDH, she was an impressionist painter.
I was messing about to see if you could make a doll look like an impressionist painting. And yes that's paint tubes on her hat. a) she was a painter and b) paint tubes were integral to the 'creation' of impressionism so I thought an apropriate choise XD
Also her full dress is an 1860s dress because it was in the 1860s she moved to france (hence the travel theme) but she wasn't really known as a painter until later, so as a painter she's more likely to be in a bustle dress.. and yes that's just me being historical nerdy XD
vision: i think the concept of impressionist pixelling is something not many would think of. it worked out really nicely, and the only way to tell this was done digitally is the crisp edges and outlines. originality: the hat on the portrait, made of art materials, is just one of a kind. i haven't seen anything like it before and there's a slim chance i'll see something like it in the near future. the fullbody is also really historically accurate, to the best of my young-minded knowledge. technique: i don't need to explain. this is amazing. the only thing i would change, if anything, is softer edges/outlines. impact: everything worked out amazingly and created a very nice looking product.
Ooohhh my goodness, that is a brilliant idea. Mary Cassatt is one of my favorite Impressionists, and this... it turned out beautifully. I...just... wow. I have such a soft spot for 1860s fashion, and all the colors! And I would definitely wear a hat like that.
Thanks I love all the impressionists, mainly because what I find awesome is while their painting style is fairly similar each one has a different 'obsession' that comes across in their work, and I love being able to see each obsession in each artist's work.
Yes! Impressionism is wonderful for actually getting to see what the artists loved to paint. Degas' ballerinas, Monet's studies of light... and Cassatt's beautiful family scenes.
To mw what made impressionism wonderful was that in breaking the salon's rules they weren't trying to be clever or 'meaningful' in what they painted. Just passionate.
When you get beyond impressionism people start getting too caught up in WHAT they're painting again and WHY not "because I want to paint it"
This is marvelous! I love how she looks like an aged painting...slightly dusty, like she's been sitting in a museum for years. The impressionistic quality you gave her gives her so much depth! Lovely job.
