Lady Macbeth by FionaCreates Lady Macbeth by FionaCreates
This character just seems to follow me everywhere. I was watching a documentary on dark ages through medieval fashion and hair changes and she was just there going "you see that dress they're talking about? I'd look awesome wearing that... and that hairstyle would suit me wonderfully" so I guess it was inevitable she made her routine appearance in my drawings.

I also recorded the entire process. You can check it out here -->…
It goes from thumbnail to end result with some commentary by me so go have a watch!!

Also... because it has been commented before on my Lady Macbeth designs, if you can accept that the hairstyle is from around 700AD, the dress is from around 1400 AD, the dagger I made up, and the jewellery is in a more Byzantine style from the Middle East when it's set in Scotland, and can't accept that I gave her dark skin, that says more about you than my art choices. That's all I'll say on the subject.

First thing that I noticed was the proportions of the head, I think it could be a bit longer. I really like the style and colours. I would definetly work on balancing the values a bit by adding some subtle highlights on the focal points to make the whole piece pop. As for the composition, seems very solid. I would maybe reduce some of the volume of the hair to re-enforce the triangular composition you have going on.

Overall is a very good piece and I definetly like what you did with the theme. I hope my critique was helpful in any way :)

First off, let me just say this is visionally stunning and original. I love the incorporation of the little details in this piece. The flowy outfit and looseness of the fabric fits well with the feeling of the Macbeth setting, and the dark bold colors as well. The way it billows out along with the length of the hair makes it stand out more to me. You gave the character an intense gaze, which fits well, and also gave a great impact to me. The blue rose was nicely symbolic, but seems a tad lost among so much blue with the shade of the outfit. I would have perhaps lightened it or darkened it a little more to make it stand out more. I see you went for a curved dagger, but the handle of the blade seems a tad crooked to me, especially compared to below the hand as above, when that part should be more straight. Even if it narrowed up towards the tip of the handle. Unless the blade were turned a bit, the same with the hand guards as well, the points out from the sides of the handle, that lead down to the blade itself. Still this is a very striking and wonderful piece. I hope this helps!
