Eowyn of Rohan by FionaCreates Eowyn of Rohan by FionaCreates
And so, since I have been trying to get lots of people to tool recently I thought I'd put my money where my mouth is and 'pixel'.

Eowyn from LOTR. More of her teenage self before she was drawn down into the dark place we first meet her in.

Eowyn was 100% created with the hard edged pencil, but I tend to scribble and well, colour count went out the window so I could get her just perfect.

119 unique colours. Yeah.. keeping it low colour count went out the window XD

So there you have it, I CAN pixel.

I challenge all dollers to make a doll using tool if you pixel, and pixel if you tool. :P Join the revolution.

I suppose there is a little of Merida in her, though I did not set out to do it that way.

Much as I love Brave, I myself have wild red curly hair, and really wild hair is something I've added to my art for a long time, and now every time I do it someone points "omg Merida!" XD I love you Brave for putting a princess out there with wild untamable hair like my own, but curse you for making people morons about Merida's hair.

If anything it's the pre-raphealites we should be pointing at.

The pre-raphealite brotherhood was a set of victorian painters who painted scenes from great stories, they were fond of the Camelot stories with King Arthur, and they especially loved painting tragic Maidens such as Ophelia and the Lady of Shallot.

In a way they are the Victorian version of modern fantasy artists who draw the tales of Tolkein and such.

One of the brotherhood, Rosetti, had a mistress with wild red hair or rather a series of mistresses with red hair (his type? XD) She was his model for many of his paintings and so many of these tragic ladies ended up sporting wild red hair. Many of the others in the movement also cottoned on to the wild red hair fettish and so the Pre Raphealites are known for their wild haired women.

Brave was most certainly heavily inspired by the Pre Raphealites. the Queen from Brave is "inspired" by a painting of Lady Macbeth. And I say "inspired" meaning "her design is almost identical". --> [link]
Not that this is a bad thing, I think it's a fantastic anecdotal nod to the PreRaphaelite fetish for red hair as seen in Brave. Although the Queen does not have the red hair of the PreRaphaelites she still holds the long twin braids and green gown of one of their paintings.
